Find out what so many people already know....Outer Cape Auctions will make you
TOP DOLLAR
on your quality early and contemporary
Provincetown
Cape Cod
and
New England artists.
Every auction we set a new world
record for at least one artist!
In auctions, the buyers are the ones that set a value to a painting: the good
and great paintings bring in
the top dollar and our buyers are very
knowledgeable about the art market. In fact, Outer Cape Auctions does
everything possible to further educate our buyers in that regard. We are
the only auction house that researches and list artist's biographical
information. We also offer to our buyers free auction registration, free paddles, free color
catalogues (average catalogue is 28 pages), free hot beverage service, free next
day local delivery and more.
Outer Cape Auctions has set the world record in auction for: Henry Hensche, Ross Moffett, Karl
Knaths, Helen Sawyer, John Hare, Ada Rayner, Jerry Farnsworth and so many others. We are a
specialty auction house dealing only in art, predominantly from the early and
contemporary Provincetown, Cape Cod, New England (North Shore, Gloucester and
Rockport) and established American artists.
This is why we have been so successful representing the past and present of
Provincetown, Cape Cod and New England since 1999.
And our buyers and sellers know it!
Call 508.487.7281 or email us for free auction estimates and information.
We offer the quickest payback, terms, conditions and dealings. We pay
within 15 calendar days of the auction and when we say we will pay you...WE PAY YOU!
After all, it is not OUR money, but yours!
Have a star painting? A painting we call "the museum piece"? We are
prepared to pay you up to 105% of the selling price of this work in auction.
Want to know more?
Are you a museum, art association, organization that has acquired works of art?
Are you thinking of *de-accessioning part or all of the works? We have
extremely attractive terms for such organizations.
*disposal of collections
through sale, trade, or research activities is solely for the advancement of the
museum's mission. Proceeds from the sale of nonliving collections are to be used
consistent with the established standards of the museum's discipline, but in no
event shall they be used for anything other than acquisition or direct care of
collections.
Are you a patron of such an organization? Do you donate such works to
these organizations to help them cover their cost? Donating to them offers
them 100% less the cost of selling the work(s). By consigning to us, you
can give these organizations more in CASH by consigning these works to us.
After all, selling art is our business. After all, what these
organizations really need is CASH, not art work.
*IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL POTENTIAL SELLERS
I pride myself in learning my business from the bottom up through the actual on-the-job experience that equates real education through the act of doing it. That said, I have for several years, listed with known listing services like askart, artprice and others. 2 years ago, I decided to stop listing my auctions with those services. That decision was made after conversations with many dealers/clients of Outer Cape Auctions and the hesitancy to consign serious and more expensive works of art to Outer Cape Auctions. The argument made by those entities were that, if an important piece was consigned, with an attached reserve or minimum price to sell, and it did not reach that reserve, then by the work being listed on such listing services would show it as "unsold" and diminish the value of the work.
There are many advantages and disadvantages to listing with such services and I will not go into it now on the many pros and cons, but, with much thought and research, I decided to relist with those listing services beginning with the last auction on February 15, 2009. It only took me about a week to realize that the idea to relist with those services was a mistake.
That said, I will stop listing all future auctions with any listing service. This will now be written in stone and I will NOT waffle on it. From this point forward, any works consigned to Outer Cape Auctions will only be seen on our website. The important works may appear in publications like the Boston Globe, Antiques and the Arts Weekly, The Cape Cod Times, The Provincetown Banner and other related publications, but only as advertisements for that auction. Results will only be posted on our website. PERIOD!
What I have decided to do is to start a new section on Outer Cape Auction's website with "RECORD PRICES ACHIEVED IN OUR AUCTIONS" for artists. This will be available to all visitors to our website. This section will list the star sellers in an auction, and also the star prices realized for any artists. This section will NOT list passed lots, unsold lots or lots that sold below what the value of the work is.
Thanks for hanging in there with me on this issue. The decision to do this was made with the living artists and deceased artists that make up the bulk of my auctions. My goal is to attain the absolute highest price possible for any one consignment and in the instance of a living artist, to hopefully increase their value in collectors eyes. So, if you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to call me directly at 508.487.7281. As this section of the website is constructed, I will go back through each auction for the last 11 years and pull out the record prices, high prices and items worth mentioning and paste onto the proper page. I hope to make this section easy to navigate and hopefully as it comes to fruition, will be filed under artist last name, then first name for easy searching.
